Unqualified contractors, without professional training in an un-controlled industry, are causing many prospective investors to invest elsewhere. Those who, nevertheless, are investing in Belize face unnecessary overheads, causing serious impact on our building capacities and standards of work. Belize has very little infrastructure and even less educational resources available to train the many Belizeans in the industry; in order to receive a higher standard of investment clientele, it is mandatory that construction bylaws and codes be restructured, and that they be reinforced by monitoring all building activities regionally and nationally.
